GRASS SKIING ON THE MONT VENTOUx in provence
|
An increasingly popular and exciting sport for those who love the sensation of speed, or those who simply can't wait for the snow to fall again next season, from early June you can try out grass skiing on the slopes of the Mont Ventoux. The club meets most Sundays at 2 pm at the Mont Serein ski station throughout the summer. Other training sessions by arrangement.

The development of summer activities such as freewheel go-karting and 'trottinette' runs mean more and more alpine ski resorts are opening up ski-lifts over the summer, with the possibility of grass-skiing if the conditions are suitable (regular, grassy slopes, not too steep, few stones) |

Following training for the International Ski Federation's International World Youth competition in the Czech Republic at the end of July and the French Championships and race camp in August at 'Le Sauze', the Mont Ventoux grass ski racing centre sent one young skier to both competitions. Hannah retained her titles in the 'Poussin' (Children II) category, slalom, GS and combined. |

The Ventoux is a glorious location to visit throughout the year. The highest isolated summit in the Pre-Alps at just under 2,000 metres, it dominates the surrounding countryside, with views over the Rhone Valley vineyards to the west and the peaks of the Alps to the north-east. The fresher temperatures at the north-facing resort of the Mont Serein can make a pleasant change from the implacably hot Provençal sunshine...
